Math

  • The iThinkSmart curriculum for Middle School Math consists of:
    • The four basic concepts which will be covered in the 6th grade iThinkSmart curriculum are: 
      • Broadening the idea of multiplication and division by using concepts such as, word problems, probability, factors, and multiples. 
      • Understanding the division of fractions, rational numbers including, negative numbers. 
      • Writing and understanding, numbers and equations. 
      • Developmental skills of statistical thinking
    • The concepts which will be covered in the 7th Grade iThinkSmart curriculum are: 
      • Graphing equations.
      • Understanding estimation and prediction. 
      • Getting extensive on rational numbers and percentages. 
      • Having a broad understanding of proportions.
    • The concepts which will be covered in the 8th Grade iThinkSmart curriculum are:
      • Connecting expressions and equations with linear equations.
      • Understanding concepts of functions and relating them to quantitative relationships. 
      • Applying pythagorean theorem, and studying the concepts of angles, similarity, and distance using two- and three-dimensional figures.

Reading

  • The iThinkSmart curriculum for Language Arts consists of a multitude of reading concepts that the student can acquire from Kindergarten to 12th Grade are:
    • Analyzing the passage given by annotating and the usage of context clues. 
    • Broadening the students’ vocabulary through the usage of complex words.
    • Students will be able to summarize, analyze, and comprehend along with grasping the key concept of the passage. 
    • In early onset reading curriculum, the student will have a plot chart which includes, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. This will help the student expand their knowledge to break down the storyline of the passage. 
    • The student will be able to realize the difference between fiction and nonfiction passages, along with their questions.

Writing

  • The iThinkSmart curriculum for Middle School writing consists of a multitude of writing concepts that the student can acquire. These concepts include:
    • Subject-verb agreement, past/present verb tense, understanding the concept of quotation marks in dialogue and citations. The students will establish the use of conjunctions, and be able to prevent the concept of fragments/run-on sentences.
